Qatar University doubles fees

DOHA: The Qatar University has raised the tuition fees up to 100 percent for all undergraduate and Foundation Programmes.
The hike will come into force from Fall semester this year which begins after the summer holidays. The university has not increased the fees since Fall 2009.
The tuition fees for Arts programme has been hiked from QR 400 ( per credit hour) to QR800, Business and Economics from QR500 to QR900, Education from QR400 to QR800.
Fee for Engineering programme has been increased from QR600 to QR1000, Foundation Program from QR500 to QR900, Law from QR400 to QR800, Pharmacy from QR600 to QR1000, Science from QR500 to QR900, Sharia and Islamic Studies from QR400 to QR800.
Fee for the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Programme remain unchanged at QR600.
The tuition fees are to be paid at the beginning of each semester, Fall, Spring and Summer. Students are required to pay all amounts due for the current semester before they go to the next semester, according to the university website.

Besides Qataris who are mostly exempted from the fees, a large number of expatriate students are enrolled at the university.
