GCC countries discuss economic integration

DOHA: The ministers of GCC countries discussed ways of further strengthening economic integration of member countries, on the first day of the 100th regular meeting of GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee.
Speaking after the meeting, Abdullah bin Juma Al Shibli, GCC Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Development Affairs said the committee has approved the recommendation regarding equality of GCC citizens in member countries which is an important step towards economic integration of GCC economies. 
He added that a working group has been set up to interact with citizens and companies who have benefited from the GCC common market. He said a number of committees were tasked with the issue of economic integration and their recommendations will be referred to the next meeting of the financial and economic cooperation committee. Minister of Finance H E Ali Sherif Al Emadi said there is optimism over the performance of the global economy but there are still some risks in front of some major economies. According to him, the economic condition of GCC region is still strong.
