Katara to host roundtable on social cohesion and community resilience on Sunday

Doha, Qatar: Katara Cultural Village will host an important roundtable discussion titled “Enhancing Social Cohesion and Building Community Resilience in the Face of Crises” on Sunday, April 12, at Building 15.

The event, scheduled for 6pm, brings together a distinguished group of specialists and academics from across the region and beyond. It is organised by Katara in collaboration with the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) and the national initiative “Qatar is from us and we are from it”.

The session will explore practical strategies for strengthening social bonds and developing community resilience during times of crisis. Experts will share insights drawn from their extensive experience in interfaith dialogue, social development, and crisis management.

A specially designed promotional poster announced the event, featuring portraits of the participating speakers set against a serene backdrop of Katara’s iconic architecture and traditional Qatari desert scenes.

Confirmed speakers include DICID Chairman Prof Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi; Senior Researcher at the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, Dr. Sekou Marana Touré; the Director of the “Qatar is from us and we are from it” initiative; and a panel of regional academics from Sudan, Egypt, Syria, Turkiye, Tunisia and Jordan.

Among the notable participants are Prof Dr. Mohamed Al Khatib (Egypt), Prof Dr. Mahmoud Al Hamza (Syria), Prof Dr. Kemal Atlan (Turkiye), Maher Al Madioub (Tunisia), Jilanar Fahim (Jordan) and Dr. Mohamed Walid Munjed (Syria). Each brings specialised expertise in fields ranging from interfaith dialogue and education to social work and community development.

Katara, one of Qatar’s flagship cultural projects, continues to serve as a vibrant platform for meaningful dialogue and cross-cultural exchange. The roundtable aligns with the venue’s mission to promote understanding, tolerance and social harmony in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The event is open to the public and is expected to attract academics, policymakers, community leaders and residents interested in social development and crisis preparedness.

The upcoming discussion reflects Qatar’s ongoing commitment to fostering inclusive societies capable of withstanding challenges through knowledge-sharing and collaborative thinking.
