Doha: Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) honoured its ninth class in a special ceremony held under the patronage of H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of the QLC Board of Directors, at the National Museum of Qatar on April 6.

In her opening speech, H E Sheikha Al Mayassa congratulated the graduates for successfully completing their respective year-long leadership programmes and underlined the responsibilities that await them in light of developments taking place in Qatar and around the world.

“The Centre committed itself to empowering you with the tools to positively impact organisations throughout our various growing national sectors in support of Qatar’s future ambitions,” she said.

“We gather again at Qatar National Museum to affirm our commitment to our country’s heritage and recognise the role of leaders in reinforcing our national identity, by establishing a culture of excellence and innovation role and prepare them to serve as ambassadors of their people and culture,” she said.

The ceremony recognised 137 Qatari who have completed their studies on the National Leadership Program (Rising, Government, and Executive) and the Executive Master’s in Leadership – Qatar, offered by Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.

Sheikh Dr. Abdulla bin Ali Al Thani, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of QLC, also congratulated the graduates, noting: “We held this occasion to honour these 137 participants and celebrate their remarkable accomplishment, as they join a very exclusive group of 800 Qatari leaders who undertook a first-class leadership development experience at the Centre.

“Our national human capital has become richer with Qatari talent who utilise the leadership and executive skills they refined at QLC in service of their companies and organisations. With the assistance of its longtime partners, the Centre supported these talents, empowering them to help Qatar achieve the goals prescribed in its pillars of human and economic development,” he said.

Dr. Ahmad Abdulla Al Kuwari, General Manager of the Centre, praised the Class of 2021 for a remarkable year, adding: “It was an exceptional year for the executive team and our participants, as we worked hand in hand to complete a diverse and rich journey which left a tremendous impact on their personal and professional lives.”

The Centre’s alumni community, growing since the first class in 2012, is an invaluable resource of highly qualified professionals who have completed one of the National Leadership Program and EML-Q.

The recent partnership with Qatar University to launch the first Arabic-language Executive Master’s in Leadership, is the latest addition to QLC’s network of esteemed partners including the University of Cambridge, the University of Chicago, Duke University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, HEC Paris, and Oxford University, as well as specialised institutes such as Al Jazeera Media Institute and the Singapore Civil Service College.
