Doha: The Philippine Embassy in Doha announced that the period of overseas voting for National and Local elections will run from today (April 10) to May 9.

The Embassy will serve as the polling place for the 30-day voting period and will be open from 7am to 4pm. “It will also be open on Fridays and Saturdays, but only for purposes of voting,” it explained.

Registered voters are advised to bring either of the identification documents to be allowed to vote: copy of valid Philippine passport or copy of Qatar ID.

It has released late in February the finalised Certified List of Overseas Voter in Qatar wherein the total number of registered land-based overseas voters reached 40,441, while the seafarer overseas voters number reached 19,584.

The Embassy also reminded the submission for proposed poll watchers was on April 5 at their office or through email doha.pe@dfa.gov.ph, with copy furnished the COMELE Office for Overseas Voting at overseasvoting@comelec.gov.ph

The organisations include all registered political party or coalition of parties fielding candidate, accredited political party, sectoral party or organisation or coalition thereof participating in the party-list system of representations; candidate; and accredited citizens’ arms; and accredited Overseas Filipino Worker organisations.

Only one watcher may be accommodated from each entity for each two poll precincts, subject to the final determination by the Embassy on the number of actual poll watchers who will participate in the elections.
