Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has emphasised that producing loud noise from vehicles constitutes a violation of the Traffic Law and causes disturbance and concern to residents.

In a public notice published on its official X platform on Tuesday evening, March 10, 2026, the ministry clarified that making loud noises from vehicles is considered a traffic violation and can create disturbance and anxiety among residents.

The ministry explained that vehicle noise levels are measured using the sound unit decibel (dB), in accordance with the requirements set by the Qatar General Authority for Standardization and Metrology regarding permissible noise levels for cars and motorcycles.

MoI also called on motorists to comply with regulations and instructions and avoid producing loud noises from vehicles in order to maintain public peace.

On Monday, March 9, 2026, the ministry announced that the General Directorate of Traffic had seized 39 violating vehicles that were emitting loud and disturbing noises while driving on the roads. The drivers were apprehended and referred to the competent authorities in accordance with the procedures followed in such cases.

The action forms part of the ongoing efforts of the General Directorate of Traffic to control violations that disturb public tranquility and cause inconvenience to road users and residents.

Producing disturbing noise from vehicles is considered a violation of Article (58) of the Traffic Law issued by Decree-Law No. (19) of 2007, which stipulates that no vehicle may be driven on the road if it emits disturbing noise, and that every vehicle must be equipped with a properly functioning muffler (silencer).
