Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is participating in the activities of the National Sports Day, observed on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, by organising a range of diverse sports programmes and activities at the ministry’s grounds in the Abu Hamour area.

This participation reflects the ministry’s commitment to promoting a culture of sport and a healthy lifestyle among employees and the wider community.

The ministry’s participation underscores its dedication to raising awareness of the importance of sport and its role in building a healthy and balanced society, both physically and spiritually in line with the teachings of Islam, which encourage maintaining good health, fostering positive competition, and upholding noble moral values across all aspects of life.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs affirmed that its participation in National Sports Day is rooted in the principles of Islam, which place great emphasis on preserving life as one of the five essential necessities. This is supported by the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) saying, “The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer,” highlighting the importance of balance between physical strength and spiritual and moral elevation.

These activities also fall within the ministry’s commitment to achieving the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and contributing to the national strategy aimed at making the State of Qatar a capital of sport and peace, while preserving authentic values and positive social traditions.

In a related context, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs concluded on Sunday evening, February 8, 2026, at the ministry’s grounds in Abu Hamour, the Second Sports Football Championship for departmental employees.

The tournament, which kicked off on January 20, saw the participation of 20 teams representing various departments of the ministry.

The ministry emphasised that organising this championship is part of its broader efforts to support sports and social activities for its employees, enhance institutional belonging, reinforce the values of teamwork, and promote a culture of sport and physical activity as a healthy way of life, in line with the state’s vision of building a well-balanced individual both physically and professionally.

The ministry invited all employees, their children, and the general public to take part in the National Sports Day activities, noting that a comprehensive sports program has been prepared combining entertainment, vitality, and physical activity.

The programme includes a variety of sports games, in addition to dedicated activities for children, providing them with the opportunity to enjoy a special sports day in a positive, family-friendly atmosphere.

This participation reaffirms the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs’ commitment to strengthening the role of sport in building a well-balanced personality, promoting health awareness, and instilling the values of moderation and balance in the lives of individuals and society.
