DOHA: With the donations by the benevolent people of Qatar, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is implementing Warm Winter Campaign #TheirWarmthIsOurDuty 2024-2025, through its foreign offices and fellow National Societies in the host countries, with the aim of providing winterization and food supplies to help vulnerable groups withstand the cold weather of the winter.

QRCS office in Lebanon distributed heating oil coupons, in cooperation with the Lebanese Red Cross, for the benefit of 250 families, or 1,250 Syrian refugees at camps and the host communities in the mountainous areas of Beqaa and Akkar governorates.

In Yemen, QRCS office started distributing mattresses and blankets, in cooperation with Yemen Red Crescent Society (YRCS), for the benefit of 1,643 displaced and poor families in the coldest areas of Amran and Saada governorates, at a cost of $100,000.

Each containing two blankets and two mattresses, 827 winterisation bags were distributed in Amran and 828 winterization bags in Saada.

The project focused on displaced and vulnerable families, widows, orphans, disabilities, and older persons.

As part of QRCS’s interventions in Afghanistan during the current winter, two phases of winterisation aid were implemented. Phase 1 reached out to 1,100 families in Helmand and Badakhshan provinces.

Phase 2 involved the distribution of winterisation kits to 445 vulnerable families worst hit by the harsh winter in Logar province.
