Berlin: German industry leaders on Tuesday called on lawmakers to facilitate the integration of refugees in the face of a looming labour market shortfall linked to the country's declining birthrate.
New legislation should ensure that refugees cannot be deported during their professional training and for two years after its completion, the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) said Tuesday in relation to the 1 million migrants expected to reach Germany in 2015, dpa reported.
The DIHK's 79 regional branches were working on a nationwide programme to ease the integration of refugees into the labour market and match them with suitable traineeships, its president Eric Schweitzer said.
