Doha, Qatar: The 11th Local Dates Festival at Souq Waqif has recorded sales of more than 153,000kg of fresh dates since its launch, attracting around 75,000 visitors, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Municipality.
The festival has sold a total of 153,303kg of fresh dates, comprising a wide variety of premium locally grown varieties. Sales included 30,691kg of Shishi dates, 29,158kg of Khenaizi dates, 17,513kg of Barhi dates, 64,810kg of Khalas dates and 11,131kg of other varieties.
The festival, which opened on July 25 at Souq Waqif, provides visitors with an opportunity to explore Qatar’s agricultural heritage and purchase locally grown fresh dates directly from farmers.
The 11th edition features the participation of 114 fresh date farms and 11 fruit farms, showcasing a diverse selection of locally produced agricultural products.
Organised at the Eastern Square of Souq Waqif, the festival will continue until August 10. It is open from 4pm to 9pm from Sunday to Thursday, and from 4pm to 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
