Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met yesterday with US Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorist Financing, Marshall Billingslea.
During the meeting, they discussed the efforts of the State of Qatar and the United States in the field of combating terrorism and means of enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
The Foreign Minister said that the fight against terrorism requires prioritising the issues of combating the financing of terrorists and terrorist organisations and further cooperation between financial intelligence units in the field of combating terrorism financing.
The Minister referred to the commitment of Qatar and the United States towards this issue, which is reflected in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of counter-terrorism on July 11, 2017.
The Minister underscored the importance of international will, capacity and coordination to combat terrorism, expressing the support of the State of Qatar for all international efforts that would enhance cooperation in combating the phenomenon of trans-border terrorism.
