Khartoum: A delegation from Qatari charities visited the city of Al Junaynah, the capital of West Darfur state, as part of implementation of the second phase of Qatari projects to promote peace in the region.
Azhari Ahmed Shata, DRA Commissioner for Voluntary Return and Resettlement, said the visit aimed to see implementation of the second phase of Qatari projects and enhance efforts of the signatories of the Doha document to speed up implementation of the peace agreement.
He praised the Qatari initiative’s achievements in promoting and consolidating peace and stability and said Qatar announced in 2013 five model villages in all five states of Darfur in the first phase.
The second phase includes 10 model villages, Shata said.
