Doha, Qatar: In charge of managing Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Mohamed Faleh Al Hajri stressed that the visit of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Republic of Kazakhstan has great significance, given the distinguished relations between the two countries, as this visit should boost the close cooperation between Doha and Astana to higher levels.

In his statements to QNA, Al Hajri said that the CAA has close ties with the civil aviation authorities of Kazakhstan, especially since Qatar Airways operates regular flights between Doha and Almaty Airport, the economic capital of Kazakhstan.

He pointed out that Qatar Airways operates cargo flights to several cities in Kazakhstan, thanks to the joint efforts of the civil aviation authorities in both countries to boost cooperation, allowing more opportunities to promote trade and economic relations between the two countries. Al Hajri revealed that Qatar Airways intends to operate a new route between the State of Qatar and Kazakhstan, represented by direct flights between Doha and Astana, given the success of the direct flights between Doha and Almaty.

Al Hajri noted that this development came as a result of the mutual air service agreement signed in Doha in November 2021 and a memorandum of understanding reflecting the operating framework between the aviation authorities in Qatar and Kazakhstan.
