Milan: Qatar’s transportation sector is growing rapidly at all levels and the government and service providers are striving to deal with future challenges in transport, sustainability and the preservation of environment, said Minister of Transport H E Jassim bin Seif Al Sulaiti.
The minister was delivering a speech at the opening of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) World Congress in the Italian city of Milan. Al Sulaiti explained that the Ministry of Transport takes advantage of the expertise of the UITP, which its memberships include 92 member states and 3200 members.
During the congress Qatar, represented by the minister Jassim bin Seif Al Sulaiti, was re-elected head of the Middle East and North Africa UITP. Jordanian Transport Minister Dr Lina Shabib and Egyptian Transport Minister Hani Dahi were elected his deputies.
Qatar’s delegation includes a number of senior officials from Mowasalat and Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail), in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport. They showcased Qatar’s transport sector in the international arena at the three-day 61st UITP World Congress and Exhibition in Milan. QNA
