The second day drew a huge number of visitors from the Qatari construction industry to Project Qatar 2017 exhibition where international exhibitors have showcased their latest equipment and services.
The Peninsula interacted with eight French companies at the exhibition, which according to their representatives "are focusing on quality and reliability" in order to match Qatar’s expectations of huge quality standards and cost effective solutions.
The French pavilion focuses on sustainable and environment-friendly buildings, energy efficiency and timber constructions but also smart buildings and home automation to reinforce partnerships with existing projects and develop new joint-ventures and engage negotiations with local contractors, distributors and agents in new areas of activities in Qatar.
Christelle Peyran, Head of "Business France" Qatar told The Peninsula: “In Project Qatar 2017, we have selected the best companies to match Qatar’s expectations of huge quality standards and cost effective solutions. French construction sector is quite fragmented with around 350,000 French companies hiring a workforce of 1.5 million and sales revenues of 129 billion Euros. The eight companies which participated this year include Bridgin, Guard Industry, ICOPAL SAS, Aximum, Controlab, Serge Ferrari Sas, Sterela and Terreal.”
The construction industry alone in Qatar represents 5.7% of GDP. After being awarded the 2022 Football World Cup, Qatar rapidly embarked upon an intensive investment programme in major infrastructure projects.
There is also a growing demand for sustainable-development, with profitable segments being hotels and ‘green’ construction that encourage the use of innovative products. The French pavilion organised by "Business France" has introduced innovative products and technologies to local construction professionals in Doha.
The select delegation of French companies attending Project Qatar is for their expertise in the area of high-quality projects, such as 5-star hotels and villas, public buildings such as shopping malls, schools and stadiums.
French exhibitors are trying to seize the opportunity to present smart cities solutions, bio-climatic materials, mechanics, electricity and plumbing contracting – MEP among other specific offers.
Bridgin company deals with measurements, marketing and trophy equipment, a new real-time depth and slope control tool for all buckets. Gurad Industry is a French company that specialises in research, developing and manufacturing innovative and eco-friendly products designed to protect, decorate and clean building materials. TERREAL company is a key player of clay building materials. They create innovative solutions for the building envelope, through four activities: roofing, structure, cladding, decoration.
