The Department of Mass Communication at Qatar University College of Arts and Sciences (QU-CAS) recently hosted a seminar on ‘Qatar Media: Realities and Future Challenges.’
The event aimed to discuss department’s development process, assess qualifications of graduates to work in media in Qatar, and to highlight importance of providing training to graduates to uplift their skills and expertise, in line with the national sustainable development process and Qatar National Vision 2030.
The opening ceremony was attended by CAS Dean Dr Rashid Al Kuwari, CAS Mass Communication Department Head Dr Mahmoud Galander, Professor at the Department Prof Muhammad Kirat, a large number of media representatives and CAS faculty and students.
Dr Al Kuwari said, “This meeting comes in line with QU’s strategic plan that aims to strengthen cooperation between the University and industry, which will contribute to developing QU academic programs in line with the needs and requirements of the labor market. We are here today to interact with local media representatives and to get insight into their suggestions and opinions.”
Dr Galander thanked media institutions in Qatar for their cooperation to CAS Department of Mass Communication and for their determination to provide faculty and students training opportunities.
