DOHA: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) marked 2025 as a pivotal year in advancing Qatar’s digital transformation, highlighting major achievements in partnerships, international certifications, and government service delivery, among others.

In its X platform yesterday, the Ministry emphasised that the previous year witnessed sustained efforts to strengthen national digital readiness and develop innovative digital services, aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, the National Development Strategy 2024–2030, and the Digital Agenda 2030.

Throughout the year, MCIT expanded its collaboration with key government entities to deliver impactful digital initiatives.

Among the notable achievements were the launch of the National AI-Powered Learning Platform in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, as well as initiatives promoting digital culture and family cohesion in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and Family.

Additional milestones included the launch of the Customs Auction Platform in collaboration with the General Authority of Customs, the Hazardous Materials Management Platform with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and support for AI-driven decision-making with the National Planning Council.

MCIT also led the development of digital transformation roadmaps for the tourism, transport, and logistics sectors in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and Qatar Tourism.

The Ministry further bolstered its institutional excellence by obtaining multiple international ISO certifications. These included ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 for IT Service Management, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for Information Security Management, and ISO/IEC 9001:2015 for Quality Management, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to global best practices, service quality, and information security.

It noted the strong performance of the Government Contact Center as a key pillar of digital government services. In 2025, the center handled over 10 million calls, including 2.4 million during the first quarter alone. The center currently supports 85 government services for 49 beneficiary entities, achieving an average response time of seven seconds and a customer satisfaction rate of 81 percent.

Central to Qatar’s digital transformation are over 15 strategic agreements with industry titans designed to anchor the nation’s infrastructure in world-class technology. To fuel the local economy, collaborations with Microsoft, Huawei and Google Cloud, among others, have reinforced the nation’s digital infrastructure through Azure, Copilot, and advanced cloud solutions.

The MCIT has launched more than 20 training programmes to build a future-ready workforce. A flagship initiative, the ALIF Programme, was specifically created to build AI capabilities within government entities, ensuring that public sector employees can leverage modern tools effectively.

Qatar has also solidified its position on the international stage, participating in over 10 major global events and forums throughout 2025, including the AI Action Summit in Paris and Web Summit Qatar 2025, where it led dialogues on digital policy and entrepreneurship.

By contributing to the United Nations E-Government Survey and hosting the MENA E-Government Workshop, Qatar continues to serve as a regional leader in cross-border collaboration and the development of integrated digital ecosystems.

Beyond infrastructure and diplomacy, the MCIT is focusing on specialised innovation through 12 new initiatives and publications. This includes the launch of AI and XR sandboxes at the TASMU Innovation Lab to provide a testing ground for emerging technologies.
