Doha, Qatar: In order to protect wildlife in the country, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has launched several expanded inspection campaigns to monitor any environmental violations and ensure compliance with the laws and decisions that protect wildlife in the country.

These campaigns include all terrestrial and coastal areas and natural reserves, in various regions of the country, in cooperation with General Cleanliness Department of the Ministry of Municipality and the Internal Security Force “Lekhwiya”.

According to the plan drawn up by the Wildlife Protection Department, many inspection campaigns will be conducted starting from January 2024, to include encroachments in the central, northern and southern regions of the country.

The Department will also conduct other public cleanliness campaigns in the northern regions. The expanded campaign, which will be carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, aims to ensure that there are no environmental violations in all areas targeted by the inspection campaign, and to adhere to the laws and legislation that protect wildlife.

This is including Law No. 19 of 2004 regarding the protection of wildlife and their natural habitats, and Law No. 10 of the year 1987 regarding the protection of public and private state property, and the ministerial decision prohibiting the grazing of camels and regulating the grazing of sheep and goats in all regions of the state, in addition to the decision to regulate the hunting season for some birds and wild animals.

The campaign also includes all camping areas, with the aim of ensuring compliance with the designated site and areas specified for the camp through the camping permit, and staying away from roads and valleys.

These campaigns will ensure compliance with the conditions and controls of the permit, and in the event that inspection is not permitted, the competent authority has the right to cancel the permit.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change recommends to all land and sea travelers the necessity of not violating these laws, which place the perpetrator under penalty of the law, and not to infringe on biodiversity of plants and animals, as well as to commit to preserving the meadows and wildlife, in a way that contributes to preserving them, working to enrich them, and avoiding any actions.

The Ministry stresses the importance of maintaining general cleanliness, not harming the terrestrial or marine environment, and not disposing of waste except in designated containers. With the start of the winter camping season, the relevant agencies provided cleaning containers near all camping areas.
