The Technical Committee for the Promotion of Private Sector Engagement in Development Projects at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce yesterday announced plans to change the Doha Exhibition Center (DEC) into a modern entertainment city and has invited tenders from prospective private investors.
The committee has invited interested investors to take part in the project in collaboration with Qatar Tourism Authority.
A total area of 84,875 sqm has been allocated for private investment which includes 57,600 sqm built-up area, along with parking space with total area of 26,075 sqm. it also includes the outside open places with total areas of 1,200sqm and exhibition area of 14,992 sqm, and shops with a total area of 479 sqm. According to the committee, the interested investors are required to develop the current hall and the available facilities and change them to a modern entertainment city.
The contract duration is 25 years. The committee said the project proposal should include development of the current building and the open areas with shops, restaurants, nursery, parking spaces and other tourism activities. Prospective investors are required to submit their tender offers before April 4, 2017. They can collect the tender documents from the Purchasing Section at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce at the 4th floor in the ministry’s headquarters in Lusail Tower B. The project is part of government committeement to evolve private sector in development projects especially in torisuim sector.
