Doha, Qatar: The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies announced the launch of the Arabic translation of orientalist Gustaf Dalman's book "Work And Customs In Palestine."

This exceptional release follows an effort that lasted for more than five years on this unique historical and anthropological document, which both records and analyze Palestine, its culture, history, heritage, landmarks, land, and people, studying the city of Jerusalem and its natural and human surroundings using a high-quality scientific methodology, put together in an encyclopedia of eight parts in nine volumes.

The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies noted that it decided to supplement the book with a tenth volume written by Dalman titled Jerusalem and its Grounds, bringing the total number of volumes to ten.

It took Gustaf Dalman about 14 years to write this book, whereas he spent 20 years preparing for Jerusalem and its Grounds by gathering information, recording it, and matching it with geographical realties on the ground.

The first volume of Work And Customs In Palestine was published in 1928, with the final and eighth volume published in 1942, one year after Dalman's death.

The importance of this work lies in the fact that its author lived in Palestine between 1899 and 1917, unlike other orientalists, travelers, and archaeological explorers who frequented Palestine for limited periods only to return to their countries to give lectures, record their journeys, and/or submit reports and intelligence to military institutions.
