Doha, Qatar: Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education and the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation are to establish a strategic partnership to strengthen collaboration in the areas of sports development, accessibility, inclusion, capacity building, and community engagement.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two parties reflects a shared commitment to expanding inclusive and accessible endurance sports pathways for children, youth, and community members across Qatar, with a particular focus on students with accessibility needs, increasing girls’ participation, and broadening grassroots participation in sport.

Commenting on the partnership, Abeer Al Khalifa, President of Pre-University Education at Qatar Foundation, said: “This Memorandum of Understanding reflects our vision at Pre-University Education that sport is an integral part of the educational experience, given its vital role in shaping character, building self-confidence, and fostering the values of teamwork, discipline, and leadership.

“Through our partnership, we aim to expand opportunities for our students to participate in high-quality sports programmes while making the most of our sports facilities to support school and community initiatives that promote health, wellbeing, and inclusion.

“This Memorandum of Understanding also marks an important step toward creating more inclusive and accessible sporting pathways for all students, while investing in capacity building through coach development programmes, workshops, and joint initiatives.

“We believe that building a sustainable sporting culture begins at school and is strengthened through meaningful partnerships between educational institutions and national organisations, helping to nurture healthier generations who are empowered to contribute to their communities.”

“This MoU is more than a step toward strengthening collaboration in sport. It also tells an inspiring story of the lasting impact QF has on its students and alumni, and how a single opportunity can lead to a lifetime of achievement and leadership.”

Reflecting the lasting value of education, Eng. Abdulaziz Saud Al Tamimi, President of QCTF, returned to QF not only as a former student of its Academic Bridge Programme and an alumnus of QF partner university HEC Paris, Doha, but also as a partner in signing the MoU. For Al Tamimi, this homecoming carried special significance. Education City was where he competed in his first cycling race, sparking a passion that eventually led him to become President of QCTF. “My journey in triathlon and cycling began nearly ten years ago, and QF played an important role from the very beginning,” said Al Tamimi. “Competing in races at Education City helped nurture my passion for the sport. Since then, I have represented Qatar in local and international competitions, achieving several podium finishes and notable accomplishments.

“Returning to QF holds great personal meaning for me. I am coming back not only as an alumnus, but as a partner in an initiative that will inspire a new generation to discover its passion for sport.
