Four arrested for illegal liquor production and sales

DOHA: Four people were arrested by authorities at the North Security Department for production and sales of homemade liquor in large quantities.

According to a Ministry of Interior statement, the Al Najda Police (Al Fazaa) spotted a man driving his car in a suspicious manner in the area controlled by North Security. Police inspected his vehicle and found 120 plastic bottles filled with homemade liquor.

The bottles were seized and the accused taken into custody. During interrogation, he confessed that he was selling liquor in the northern areas after buying them from a house in Mesaimeer.

In coordination with Mesaimeer Police, Al Fazaa raided the house and equipment for the production of liquor was found at the premises.

Three other people, who were engaged in liquor production, were also arrested from the house and raw material and utensils used for liquor making were seized.

The accused were referred to the concerned department for further legal procedures and refer to Public Prosecution.
