Doha: Qatar Development Fund (QDF) yesterday signed a $10m agreement with Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) to provide relief for Libyan refugees affected by the crisis in their country.
QDF General Manager Khalifa Jassim Al Kuwari and QRC Secretary-General Saleh Ali Al Muhanadi signed the deal.
Al Kuwari said the agreement came in view of difficult human conditions in Libya which has led several families to flee and as part of QDF’s attention to help affected families to alleviate their suffering due to difficult circumstances in which they live. He said QDF selected QRC to implement humanitarian projects in Libya and the donation mainly targets the health and food sectors.
Al Muhanadi thanked QDF for selecting QRC to implement the project and said the donation will allow them to cover more people in different parts of Libya.
He said QRC, in cooperation with Libya Red Crescent and other Libyan authorities, has initiated a strategy to ensure quick implementation of the project. QNA
