Labourers receiving fresh fruits and awareness cards on World Labour Day.
The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) celebrated the World Labour Day, which falls on May 1 every year. PHCC shared with labourers their happiness on this day in appreciation of their hard work, and recognised the importance of their role and contribution to the country’s development and progress.
These celebrations are part of the Corporation’s drive for initiatives and programmes focused on the labourers of Qatar, raising awareness of health risks during work and providing educational information on how to deal with such risks.
PHCC distributed fresh fruits and water to the labourers in the streets, public places and workplaces. In addition, awareness cards with written advice in more than one language on the importance of adherence to hygiene to prevent common infectious diseases were also provided. PHCC shared material encouraging healthy lifestyle and well being.
Huda Al Wahide, Executive Director of Corporate Communication Department at PHCC, said: "This celebration is part of the PHCC's commitment to fulfilling its mission and role in social development within Qatar and raising the level of health and safety among all segments of society, in order to reduce the incidence of diseases thus reducing the demand for medical care facilities and reducing absenteeism due to sickness.
