With the season winding to a close with the Emir Cup, football fans are bracing for the final event of the season. The Emir Cup has the flavour of a football festival, with the event trophy making rounds of the city’s major landmarks, schools, offices and various organisations. The country’s top teams play in the event. Meanwhile, QSL have announced all ticket sales from the Heir Apparent Cup final will go to helping those affected by the humanitarian tragedy in Syria.
With the help of the Qatar Charitable Society, it has been decided the proceeds will be used to help the people affected by the difficulties face by the people of Syria since 2001, a news report on the QSL website said. The final was won by Lekhwiya after they defeated Al Sadd 3-2 on Saturday. Such a gesture is not unique for a sporting organisation in Qatar, with the profits from major events in the past donated to causes and stricken people close to the hearts of the people of Qatar.
