Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the implementation of alternative assessment procedures for the mid-term exams of the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.

The Ministry, represented by the Assessment Affairs Sector, said this decision applies to students in grades 1 through 11 (daytime) and comes as part of ongoing monitoring of the current situation. It aims to serve the public interest by providing flexible assessment alternatives that ensure the continuity of the educational process in a safe and stable learning environment.

The Ministry clarified that a circular containing the updated procedures has been sent to government schools and private schools that apply national standards, following up on Circular No. (6) issued on March 12, 2026, regarding the amendment of the dates for the mid-term exams.

The Ministry explained that the alternative procedure varies according to the grades. For students in grades 1 and 2, continuous assessment scores will be used as a substitute for the mid-term exams, using the approved evaluation tools for each subject.

For students in grades 3 to 11, an alternative assessment method will be implemented. This would involve assigning one electronic assessment per subject, each worth 30 marks. The marks for oral or practical assessments, depending on the subject, will be included in the total mark for the electronic application.

The Ministry indicated that government schools will assign the test through the Qatar Education System between April 14 and April 16, 2026. Private schools following national standards will assign the applications through their approved online learning platforms during the same period. Students must complete the applications for all subjects by April 21, 2026.

The Ministry clarified that students will be provided clear instructions on how to complete the electronic assessments. Teachers will be responsible for correcting the applications and recording the grades in the National Student Information System (NSIS).

The Ministry stressed the importance of schools informing students and parents of the approved procedures through available channels, ensuring clarity in the assessment process and the completion of semester requirements according to the established frameworks, thus maintaining the stability of the educational process and the quality of its outcomes. This includes taking into account the calculation of oral or practical assessment grades according to the nature of each subject.
