Vienna: The State of Qatar reaffirmed its full support for the brotherly Palestinian people and their legitimate, inalienable rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

This came in a statement delivered by Acting Charge d’Affairs at the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Austria, Jamal bin Abdulrahman Al Jaber, before a session of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held in Vienna on the situation in Palestine.

Al Jaber said that the Palestinian state has become an established reality in international law and in the conviction of the international community, particularly after 160 of the 193 United Nations member states, about 90 percent, recognized it. He called on Israel, the occupying power, to accept the Palestinian state as a reality on the ground and to cease misusing religious texts to justify unlawful expansion in Arab land.

He stressed that sustainable peace for all can only be achieved through respect for international law, the United Nations Charter, and relevant international resolutions, foremost among them recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

Al Jaber added that the State of Qatar supported UN Security Council Resolution 2,803 and the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, and considers the swift and faithful implementation of both the resolution and the plan a collective responsibility shared by all UN member states. He noted that Israel, as the occupying power, continues to violate the ceasefire, refuses to withdraw from Gaza, and obstructs the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to it. .
