Doha: The draw for the first round of the King Salman Club Cup placed Al Sadd in Group B along with Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and Morocco’s Wydad.

The draw that took place in Riyadh also pitted QNB Stars League side Qatar SC against Tunisia’s Sfaxien in the first preliminary round of the tournament.

The Group B teams will be joined by the winner of qualifying match between Al Nahda of Oman and Shabab Al Khalil of Palestine.

A total of 37 teams from the Arab world will compete in the event, which will feature preliminary qualifying rounds and finals hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the cities of Abha, Al Baha, and Taif.

Teams from Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Djibouti, Sudan, Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Comoros, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania and Yemen will participate in the tournament.

The Arab Clubs Cup League Championship was initiated in 1982. The tournament was held on a home-and-away system, and its first title was won by the Iraqi Police Club. The championship was held 17 times until 2001, when the last version of it was held in Qatar and was won by Al Sadd.
