This week's movies include Wizard of Oz and Mary Poppins
Doha: This week’s Drive-in Cinema at Lusail is themed Musical series where the movies The Wizard of Oz, High School Musical, and Mary Poppins will be shown from February 10 to 12 respectively.
It is organised by the Doha Film Institute (DFI) in partnership with Qatar Tourism. In a message posted on Instagram, DFI said that the Drive-in cinema lined-up for the week “hits all the right notes this weekend with three tune-filled musicals for the whole family.”
Tickets are available at DFI website priced for QR150 and all will be shown at 7PM.

The Wizard of Oz (1939) is a perennial fantasy musical from MGM’s golden years of cinema. During a fierce tornado, Dorothy is whisked to a land of pure imagination. Her journey in Oz will take her through emerald forests, yellow brick roads, and creepy castles, all with the help of some unusual but earnest song-happy friends. As resonant today as it was then, this masterpiece is a must-see film for young and old. It will be screened on February 10.
Meanwhile, on February 11, High School Musical movie released in 2006 will be screened. This is the first installment in the High School Musical franchise and is written by Peter Barsocchini and directed by Kenny Ortega.
And Mary Poppins released in 1964 will be shown on February 12. This American musical fantasy film combines live-action and animation, and stars Julie Andrews. The movie is based on the Mary Poppins book series written by P. L. Travers.
