The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced yesterday that it will implement a temporary closure on part of the E-Ring Road in both directions, at the middle of the distance between the Airport Street and Al Thumama Intersection.
The closure is in order to install the pedestrian bridge as part of the Interim Upgrade of E-Ring Road and Najma Street project. The closure will last three days starting from tomorrow evening till mid-Sunday, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department.
During this period, traffic heading from the Airport Street to Al Thumama Intersection on the E-Ring Road can use Oqba Bin Nafie Street and the alternative local roads, as shown in the attached map. Traffic Heading from Al Thumama Intersection towards the Airport Street on the E-Ring Road can use Najma Street and Al Hadara Street to reach their destinations, as shown in the map.
It is worth mentioning that the pedestrian bridge aims to enhance traffic safety and enable pedestrians to cross the E-Ring Road and reach commercial buildings in the area, in addition to reducing accidents and facilitating transportation between the Old Airport area (Area 45) and Al Rawda (Area 47). The bridge is provided with elevators on both sides, which can accommodate a large number of users, including people with special needs.
Ashghal will install road signs to advice motorists of the closure. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their and others safety.
