Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour, collaborating with the Student Association for Career Development at Qatar University, alongside the Qatar Career Development Centre and sponsored by Ahlibank, conducted the inaugural career camp for university students.

This initiative was aimed at bolstering soon-to-be graduates and equipping them with essential skills to facilitate their entry into the labour market.

The launch of the inaugural vocational camp for university students, set to run until January 14, 2024, aligns with the Ministry of Labour’s efforts to enhance and refine the abilities of the national workforce, aiming to boost their marketability, particularly within the private sector.

Head of the Skills Development Qualification Department at the Ministry of Labour Abdul Rahman Talfat highlighted that the objective behind hosting this student event, including the vocational camp, is to foster a closer connection with soon-to-be graduates entering the workforce.

Executive Director of QCDC, Abdulla Ahmed Al Mansoori, said: “We are honoured to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Labour and Qatar University on this initiative, which highlights the tremendous potential that the country’s career development partners can offer to our young students and professionals in line with our ongoing commitment to empowering the next generation of Qatar’s innovators. We look forward to further cooperation with them and all our professional development partners.”

President of the Student Association Mohammed Al Hafez explained that the vocational camp aims to empower participants and provide them with the tools and skills necessary for the labour market efficiently, indicating that the camp includes nearly fourteen training workshops and practical and applied events, including simulating job interviews and other various activities and field visits to understand the work environment.
