Qatar athletes win 16 medals at West Asian Youth meet

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar athletics team claimed a total of 16 medals at the third West Asian Youth Athletics which concluded in Beirut, Lebanon, with the participation of 12 countries. Qatar won 8 gold medals, 5 silver and 3 bronze. 

Hatem Hamid won gold in 800m, Abdulrahman Mohammed in hammer throw while Younis Al Balushi and Zakaria Ibrahim won gold medals in pole vault after accepting the coronation without resorting to a tie jump. The national team quartet of Abdulrahman Mohammed in the 400m hurdles, Mubarak Saeed in 3000m, Maryam Al Salik in 3000m and Dana Salem in 100m had won four gold medals on the opening day of the four-day championship. 

The five silver medals were won by Abdul Razzaq Idris in 400m hurdles, Saleh Mahmoud in shot put, Mohsen Faisal in long jump, and the mixed relay team comprising Ahmed Haroun, Dana Salem, Samer Hassan, and Maryam Al Salik), and Mohammed Kala in 400m. Three bronze medals were won by Youssef Abdel Aziz in 400m.
