Kyiv: US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner praised the new momentum gained in their talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Sunday, which came as part of US President Donald Trump administration's efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Kyiv from Moscow, where they held three hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday.

Witkoff said they had listened to "new ideas” in Moscow, that they hoped to hold a new round of US-mediated Russia-Ukraine talks and that they would be announced "soon."

"We have made a lot of progress in Moscow,” he added.

Zelensky also praised the discussions with Witkoff and Kushner as "very substantive.”

The Ukrainian president said that his country is ready to participate in tripartite talks, noting that he discussed with US envoys air defense supplies and energy support as winter approaches and expectations of Russian bombing of the Ukrainian electricity network increase again.
