Takaful insurance companies post QR335m profit, up 2.7% in 2025

Doha, Qatar: A report on Islamic finance in the State of Qatar, issued by Bait Al-Mashura Finance Consultations, revealed that Takaful insurance companies generated profits attributable to shareholders of QR335m in 2025, representing a growth rate of 2.7% compared with 2024.

Qatar Islamic Insurance Company recorded the highest growth in profits reaching approximately QR153m, an increase of 18.8%. Meanwhile, the profits of Damaan Islamic Insurance Company “Beema” grew by 12.9%.

Over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of profits of Takaful insurance companies stood at 11.1%. Beema recorded the highest CAGR at 13.5%, followed by Qatar Islamic Insurance Company and AlKhaleej Takaful Insurance Company, at 12.9% and 12.1%, respectively. During the same period, Doha Islamic Insurance recorded a growth rate of 1%.

The report also recorded a 5.9% increase in the assets of Takaful insurance companies in 2025, reaching QR4.7bn, compared with QR4.4bn in 2024. Damaan Islamic Insurance Company “Beema” achieved the highest asset growth during 2025, at 20.3%, followed by AlKhaleej Takaful Insurance Company at 2.4%, and Qatar Islamic Insurance Company at 1%.

Over the 2021–2025 period, the compound annual growth rate of the assets of Takaful insurance companies in Qatar was 1.1%. Damaan Islamic Insurance Company “Beema” recorded the highest CAGR at 3.3%, followed by Qatar Islamic Insurance Company at 1.8% and Doha Islamic Insurance at 0.2%.

According to the report, total assets attributable to policyholders at Islamic Takaful companies amounted to QR2.1bn in 2025, representing an increase of 5% compared with 2024. Beema recorded the highest growth in policyholders’ assets in 2025, at 24.1%. Policyholders’ assets at Doha Islamic Insurance “Shamel” also grew by 10%.

Takaful insurance contributions in the State of Qatar increased by 4.1% in 2025, reaching approximately QR2bn. Beema recorded the highest growth rate in insurance contributions, at 28.3%, followed by AlKhaleej Takaful Insurance Company at 19.7%, and Doha Islamic Insurance at 11.8%.

Over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, insurance contributions grew at a compound annual rate of 7.1%. Doha Islamic Insurance recorded the highest CAGR at 17.3%, followed by AlKhaleej Takaful Insurance Company at 11.7%, Beema at 10.5%, and Qatar Islamic Insurance Company at 2%.

According to the report, the operating results of Takaful insurance companies varied in 2025. Qatar Islamic Insurance Company recorded the highest insurance surplus, amounting to QR22.5m. Beema recorded a surplus of QR11.8m, while General Takaful recorded an insurance surplus of QR10.2m. Doha Islamic Insurance recorded an insurance surplus of QR78,000.

Over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, the performance of Takaful insurance companies varied between generating insurance surpluses and incurring insurance deficits.

The report also highlighted the performance of Islamic finance companies operating under the supervision of the Qatar Central Bank. The assets of Islamic finance companies in Qatar reached QR2.6bn at the end of 2025, representing an increase of 3.9% compared with 2024.
