Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani during his visit to 6th Katara International Hunting and Falcon Exhibition (S’hail).
Doha: Minister of Environment and Climate Change, H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani yesterday visited the 6th Katara International Hunting and Falcon Exhibition (S’hail).
During the visit, the Minister was acquainted with the collection of falcons and the various exhibits of types of weapons and tools for hunting, trips and camping showcased at the exhibition.
He also visited the ministry’s pavilion and briefed from the organisers of the exhibition about the items displayed by 180 local and international companies from different countries of the world, specialised in the field of falconry and its related items.
The Minister presented a shield to Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of 6th Katara International Hunting and Falcon Exhibition (S’hail) and the General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara.
On this occasion, Farhoud Al Hajri, Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, said that this participation, which is the first of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, presented the achievements of the Ministry through the pavilion and introducing the public to the awareness role of environmental protection, preservation and sustainability.
He said that the visitors are also being educated about the procedures for importing falcons to participate in the exhibition and receiving requests for issuing falcon documents, printing and delivering documents to their owners, receiving requests for a re-export certificate, printing and handing over the printing of a re-export certificate for the falcons participating in the exhibition.
The Ministry, represented by the Public Relations Department, the Department of Wildlife Development, the Department of Natural Reserves, the Department of External Reserves, and the Department of Wildlife Protection is participating in the exhibition that will continue until September 10.
The Ministry’s pavilion includes a display of the production of Houbara birds, and a presentation of the production of external reserves of Houbara, whether inside or outside Qatar where birds and animals threatened with extinction are produced in order to preserve and release them into the wild.
The Department of Nature Reserves also introduces the public to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), an agreement under the auspices of the United Nations, regulating international trade between states party to some species of wildlife threatened with extinction.
