Dr. Khalid Mubarak Al-Shafi, Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula received Gianni Merlo, President of International Sports Press Association (AIPS) at The Peninsula office yesterday.
During the meeting, AIPS President and the Editor-in-Chief discussed ways of cooperation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Gianni Merlo praised The Peninsula’s role in promotion of sports in Qatar with their extensive coverage.
The AIPS President was also briefed about the evolution of the newspaper over the past two decades since its establishment and its mission, as well as vision and role of the newspaper’s website.
The Editor-in-Chief also briefed the visiting guests about newspaper’s exclusive sports coverage and publication plans for the World Cup. AIPS is a professional organisation that represents the international sports media. Gianni Merlo is a highly respected journalist, who is associated with the Italian daily newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport.
