Qatar has strongly condemned and expressed surprise at the statement issued by the General Secretariat of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) yesterday, which is based on false allegations and charges against the State of Qatar, as part of the incitement campaign against the State built on slanderous statements amounting to the level of full fabrication to affect symbols and institutions, and indicating intent to damage its security and sovereignty.
The State of Qatar regrets that the OIC's General Secretariat has seriously violated its work and overstepped its role in the Charter and has sided clearly with the position of certain Member States. This is a dangerous precedent that threatens the work and credibility of the Organisation.
The OIC did not comply with the tolerant teachings of Islam as it should have contacted the authorities concerned in the State in order to request a clarification regarding these allegations. By disregarding all this, it has engaged in action that does not meet the objectives and purposes of the Organisation and does not comply with the Islamic principles and values under which the organisation was established.
The State of Qatar reaffirms its full commitment to the Organisation's founding principles, its charter and the principles of Islamic brotherhood, as well as its commitment to the international community in the fight against terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestations and whatever its source.
The State of Qatar also reiterates the importance of maintaining a high level of accuracy.
