The Philippine National Police (PNP) will be deploying more than 2,000 lawmen to secure the four-day APEC Summit that will be held in Bataan beginningTuesday.
Chief Supt. Ronald Santos, director of the Central Luzon regional police, said simulation exercises have already been conducted to test the preparedness of policemen in any eventuality.
“Series of coordinating conferences with other law enforcement agencies have also been conducted to guarantee the safety and security of all the delegates participating in the event,” said Santos.
“We have also deployed at least 2,000 PNP personnel within the summit venue and areas where the delegates will be billeted,” he added.
The APEC Fiscal Transparency and Taxation Policy Dialogue and Senior Finance Officials’ Meeting (SFOM) is scheduled on June 9-12 at the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, Bagac, Bataan.
Santos said part of their preparations are traffic management, escorting of convoys, crowd management for possible conduxt of protest actions and effective security for VIPs.
“We have organized Site Task Group ‘ Bagac’ to ensure effective and efficient delivery of security coverage for this event,” said Santos.
But despite police’s all-out preparations, Santos urged the public to assist the PNP by exercising vigilance and cooperating fully with the police.
