Doha, Qatar: The National Committee for the System of Customs Clearance and Cross-Border Trade Facilitation held its regular meeting to follow up, and review procedures related to import and export operations in the country, in light of the rapid developments and challenges arising from the current regional situation.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the most prominent operational challenges facing sea, land, and air customs ports, particularly those related to ensuring the continuity of supply chains, maintaining the smooth flow of goods, and enhancing the readiness of ports to respond to emergency developments, in order to support the stability of goods flow and meet local market needs.
The Committee also discussed developments in trade movement and the potential impacts on transport and shipping operations, in addition to examining a number of proactive solutions and flexible measures aimed at accelerating customs clearance procedures and reducing transaction processing times, while maintaining the highest standards of control and security.
It further noted that the Committee’s meetings are chaired by the General Authority of Customs, with the participation of representatives from relevant government and private entities, thereby enhancing coordination and unifying efforts to address current challenges and their impact on port operations.
