DOHA: Internationally renowned artist Dia Al Azzawi is among the diverse mix of arts and cultural leaders who will speak at The New York Times “Art for Tomorrow” Conference which starts on Friday at the W Doha Hotel & Residences.
Al Azzawi’s diverse works spanning 50 years of his distinguished career are currently on display at the Al Riwaq Gallery and Mathaf.
Around 40 arts and cultural luminaries have been confirmed to speak at the five-day event.
Led by award-winning New York Times journalists, the conference, convened in association with Qatar Museums under the patronage of
H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, will explore the tangible contributions art and cultural development can make to economic growth and national identity. It also supports Qatar Museums’ position as the nation’s focal point for connecting cultures, encouraging cultural exchange and nurturing creative talent.
