Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, Wednesday, discussed ways to enhance bilateral ties across various fields, in addition to exchanging assessments on regional issues of mutual concern.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that both ministers affirmed the consistency of their countries' views and their complementary efforts in consolidating the foundations of security and stability in the region, through adherence to the principles of international law, reliance on justice, and the use of all available peaceful means to bring all parties together, in line with the supreme interests, sovereignty, and national security of states.

The two sides renewed their firm and supportive stance regarding the right of the Palestinian people to freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abdelatty and Albusaidi also stressed the need to lift the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in order to allow the immediate entry of all relief and humanitarian supplies and services, thereby creating the necessary conditions for reconstruction and the return of a dignified life for the population.

Regarding developments in Yemen, the two sides affirmed their support for intra-Yemeni dialogue in Riyadh to reach a consensual settlement to the southern Yemen issue, leading to a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement that preserves the sovereignty, unity, and stability of the country and fulfills the aspirations of its people for security and prosperity.

As for the latest developments in Sudan, both ministers stressed the importance of supporting national institutions, halting fighting and escalation, protecting civilians, facilitating the flow of humanitarian aid to the population through UN agencies and relevant civil society organisations, in addition to supporting efforts aimed at reaching a consensual political solution that safeguards the rights and legitimate choices of the Sudanese people, ensures their sovereignty and stability on their land, and guarantees their safe and cooperative coexistence with all neighboring countries.
