Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), organized a series of awareness seminars for school students under the title "Young Innovator".
The sessions were held at Qatar Technical Secondary School for Boys and Al Kaaban Primary Preparatory Secondary School for Girls, with activities scheduled to continue until the end of the current academic year.
This initiative is part of the Ministry's efforts to promote intellectual property awareness among students, foster their creative and innovative skills, and empower them with practical experience and professional insights to help protect their inventions and ideas.
The seminar introduced students to the "Beginner's Guide," which outlines key concepts of intellectual property and its role in daily life.
It also covered its various branches, including industrial propertyl, such as patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and geographical indications, as well as copyright and related rights.
The sessions emphasized the importance of safeguarding intellectual property rights and their role in supporting national industries and products, while also enhancing intellectual, artistic, and technological development. This contributes to boosting innovation and creativity at the national level.
Students were also briefed on the Ministry's leading initiatives in the field of intellectual property protection and its efforts to develop an integrated electronic system aligned with the highest international standards.
This system enables trademark owners, inventors, innovators, authors, and rights holders to preserve and protect their work.
The program concluded with the launch of the "Young Innovator" competition, aimed at encouraging students to engage in creative and inventive pursuits.
At the end of the program, five winners will be selected and honored with symbolic and material prizes in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
