DOHA: In three separate incidents custom inspectors caught people trying to smuggle in marijuana into Qatar. The total marijuana seized weighed 28kg.
Three seizures were related to passengers coming to Doha, in addition to another seizure of tramadol pills package sent through Air cargo from an African country.
In the first seizure, inspector on being suspicious of a passenger bag sent it to further inspection through which 20kg of marijuana was recovered. It was wrapped in a carbon paper.
Another seizure was of marijuana weighing 6.8kg, while in the third case 1.2kg marijuana was caught by the custom officials. The last seizure was of banned 1534 tramadol pill.
Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs yesterday honored the four inspectors who were responsible for the operations.
