QSE index jumps around 100 points as all seven sector indices end in green

Doha, Qatar: The shares in Qatar’s stock market surged in yesterday’s trading as the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index rose around 100 points or 1.08 percent to close at 9,285.05 points.

The index concluded Sunday’s trading at 9,185.43 points. During yesterday’s session the volume of shares traded stood at 169,454,797 from 140,586,776 on October 4. Meanwhile the value of shares reached QR1.506bn from QR257.627m on Sunday, as a result of implementing 27,371 deals in all sectors. In the session, the shares of 44 companies rose, while the prices of nine companies decreased, and four company remained unchanged.

The market capitalisation at the close of trading stood at QR563.038bn compared with QR557.156bn in the previous session.

The indices of all seven sectors ended in green zone yesterday. The indices of banks and financial services, industrials, transportation, real estate, insurance, telecoms, and consumer goods and services gained 1.15 percent, 0.37 percent, 1.67 percent, 1.57 percent, 0.45 percent, 1.23 percent and 1.11 percent respectively.

QSE Total Return Index gained 1.08 percent to 22,944.52, QSE Al Rayan Islamic index added 1 percent to 4,631.74 points, MSCI QSE 20ESG Index gained 1.16 percent to 762.14 and QE All Share Index rose 1.04 percent to 3,664.56 points

Top gainers in yesterday’s trade were Qatar Oman, Widam, Ezdan Holding, Aamal, and Al Mahhar rising by 4.5 percent, 3.7 percent, 2.9 percent, 2.4 percent and 2.4 percent respectively.

Meanwhile Beema, General Insurance, Dlala, Lesha Bank (QFC), and Mekdam were the top los-ers, declining 4.3 percent, 1.2 percent, 0.9 percent, 0.6 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.

On other hand on Sunday the losses were led by the Transportation and Telecoms indices, falling 0.9% and 0.4%, respectively. Top losers were Al Mahhar and Inma Holding, falling 2.5% and 2.2%, respectively. Among the top gainers, Qatari Investors Group gained 5.1%, while Damaan Islamic Insurance Company was up 3.3%.

QSE ended last week’s trading down 3.01 percent, losing 285.44 points to close at 9,192 points compared with the previous week, amid pressure from six sectors. The telecommunications sector recorded the largest decline, falling 4.67 percent, while the insurance sector gained 0.17 percent.

As the third-quarter financial results approach the market is currently in a waiting phase regarding which will be among the key catalysts that could determine trading trends in the coming period.
