The Agriculture Quarantine Office at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment last month inspected 6,114 shipments of different types of agricultural products.
The total weight of the inspected imported shipments was 294,364 tonnes at different outlets of the country.
About, 102 shipments weighing 16.89 tonnes were destroyed for violating the law of agricultural quarantine rules as the quantity was infected with pests.
The office also inspected one shipment weighing 20 tonnes was ready for export at the country’s export outlets. The agriculture quarantine considers the first line of defence to protect plants from pests.
