ABUJA: At least 44 people were killed in twin bomb explosions in the city of Jos, capital of Plateau state in central Nigeria.
Nigerian newspaper 'Vanguard' quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the first explosion targeted a popular shopping complex selling foodstuffs while the second, four minutes later, took place near a mosque.
Security source said 47 people, injured in the two explosion, are being hospitalized.
No-one has claimed responsibility but militant group Boko Haram has attacked Jos before, even though it is not in north-east Nigeria where the Islamists normally operate.
The blasts are the latest in the series of deadly attacks in recent days which have seen more than 200 people killed.
