QU wins in EA Sports FIFA 22 Champions Cup powered by Ooredoo

Doha: Qatar University’s eSports Club members won the EA Sports FIFA22 Champions Cup powered by Ooredoo. 

The tournament took place on May 25 and 28, whereas the main event was held on May 24, 25 and 28.

EA Sports FIFA 22 Champions Cup powered by Ooredoo happened in Qatar with the participation of 12 of the best international FIFA22 players to compete in the Champions Cup and four regional players who have made the online qualifiers held by Ooredoo Nation, this was the biggest EA Sports FIFA 22 Lan event in the region.

The purpose of this event was to bring together eSports athletes from across the world to compete in a FIFA 22 tournament and to invite eSports enthusiasts to watch and participate in tournaments. 

Syed Hamad Abbas, President of the QU eSports Club said, “It was a fantastic experience to be part of this mega event. We first accepted registrations over a week and then proceeded to collaborate with Quest in the organization of this event. 

“We held our side tournament throughout the second and third day. Our tournament winners Mohammed Albourdiny and Adham Ali will be receiving a PS5 and Oculus VR headset respectively.”

He also added, “We are looking forward to any opportunity that we can take, to work with other organisations. Our platform grants us potential access to a huge number of participants and event organisers.”

Ahmadyar Qureshi, Vice-President of the QU eSports Club, said: “The FIFA Champions Cup was one of the biggest eSports events in the region and I am proud we were part of it. The event organization was top notch and I hope we get to see more of these events in the near future.”

Mohammed Albourdiny, first place winner of the tournament said, “It was an amazing experience and an amazing competition in general. It is my honor to win today and I’m excited to compete in the future competitions.”

Ooredoo Nation’s Champions cup is the biggest eSports Lan event happening in the region, making Qatar the capital of football not only through hosting the FIFA world cup but also through hosting the biggest EA Sports FIFA22 championship.
