Fifty One East, Sony to sponsor the 2013 Em ir Cup tournament

Doha: Fifty One East, the premium luxury retail chain in Qatar, and Sony, the leading global consumer electronics brand, yesterday announced their sponsorship of the Emir Cup at a press conference held at Qatar Football Association headquarters. 

The Emir Cup is Qatar’s most prestigious football Cup tournament bringing together some of the best local teams to battle it out for the coveted title. 

This year which marks the 41st edition of the tournament, 18 participating teams will fuel-charge the pitch to seize the most sought-out Cup of all.

Ziad Asmar, Executive Director of Darwish Technology, said on behalf of Fifty One East and Sony: “We’re very happy to be back again and to partake in this prestigious championship. Fifty One East and Sony have been strongly linked to prominent sports happenings in Qatar and The Emir Cup tops off our track record.”

He added: “This is our third year in our symbiotic partnership with the Qatar Football Association who has invested a lot of effort to turn the tournament into an engaging and unique experience for everyone in the country. We look forward to another wonderful football season which will keep many on their toes till its grand finale.”

For the duration of the tournament, Fifty One East will have special Emir Cup offers on its Sony products. 

Additionally, Fifty One East at Lagoona Mall will host the Emir Cup Trophy on May 9 at 6:00pm followed with exciting activities on the May 9, 10 and 11 which will include prizes, a Playstation competition and shows by football acrobats.

Tickets for the Emir Cup, which will take place on May 18 at Khalifa International Stadium, are available at all Fifty One East outlets located in Al Maha centre, City Centre Doha and Lagoona Mall. THE PENINSULA
