Defending champions Al Gharafa crash out of the Emir Cup

DOHA: Defending champions Al Gharafa made an early exit in the Emir Cup after suffering a shock defeat against Al Kharaitiyat yesterday.

 After the match ended 0-0 in 90 minutes, Al Khairaitiyat held their nerve to edge Al Gharafa 5-3 on penalties.

Al Kharaitiyat will now face newly-crowned Heir Apparent Cup winners Lekhwiya in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

In other results, Qatar SC beat Al Ahli after a thrilling penalty shoot-out.

Qatar SC won 7-6 after the two sides drew 2-2 in normal time. Qatar SC will now play Eljaish in the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere, Caboure scored the only goal  against Al Arabi to help Umm Salal book a quarter-final match against Al Sadd.

Al Khor also advanced and will play Al Rayyan in the quarter-finals, after beating Al Sailiyah 5-4 on penalties. The match ended 1-1 in normal time.
