Doha: The first edition of Ramadan Book Fair will start on April 8 Friday at western side of Souq Waqif. The book fair will continue until April 16.
It is organised by the Ministry of Culture (MoC), and represented by Qatar Centre for Cultural and Heritage Events. MoC said on a tweet that the event is aimed to encourage reading. The Ramadan Book Fair was built on Doha International Book Fair, one of the oldest and largest international book fairs in the region. The Doha International Book Fair, meanwhile, said on a tweet that the upcoming event is an opportunity to invest the holy month in developing knowledge.
Seventeen local organisations including Imam Bukhari House, Qatar Reads, Akkas Center, Qatar Charity, Qatar University Press, Quranic Botanic Garden, and Visual Arts Centre among others, will join the fair.
There are 35 publishers from nine countries that will participate in the Ramadan Book Fair, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, India and Australia.
